CA AB 1172 Behavior Training
This training covers the nonpublic/nonsectarian school or agency requirements of California Assembly Bill 1172 (AB 1172)
This 90 min self-study, online/asynchronous training teaches participants positive behavior intervention and supports including: collection, analysis, use of data to inform, plan, and implement behavior supports, how to understand and address challenging behaviors, evidence-based strategies for preventing behavior, and interventions for reducing and replacing challenging behaviors including deescalation techniques. The content covers the required behavior training topics of CA AB 1172.

Sara Vicars-Hall, M.A., BCBA received her master’s degree in Psychology with emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at California State University, Sacramento. She began her career working in non-public agencies and schools primarily with students with autism spectrum disorders. She has provided behavior services and consultation supports to public schools throughout Sacramento and surrounding areas for the past 15 years. She works with school staff to support individuals aged 18 months to 22 years with varying disabilities and challenging behavior.
Jared Coon, M.A., BCBA received his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis and master's degree in Psychology with emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at California State University, Sacramento. Jared has been working in the field of ABA for over 20 years with both non-public agencies/schools and public school districts. He currently works as a Behavior Analyst in Northern California. He provides behavioral assessment, staff training, professional development and consultation to multidisciplinary teams in the formation and application of evidence based interventions to a variety of populations.
This presentation will focus on the areas identified as required for training in the California Assembly Bill 1172. Once received, you will be send an invoice for the number of seats requested. (B) You may purchase seats and register individuals directly thorugh the website by selecting the "Get Started Now" link at the top of the page. Use the name and email of the individual being registered (used for certificates of completion) and create a temporary password. A new password may be set under "my dashboard" once signed in by selecting the "log in" link at the top of the page.
Certificates of completion will be automatically generated upon completion of all sections of the training including a feedback survey. Participants will be required to successfully answer comprehension checks throughout the course at 100% accuracy before moving to the next section. Participants will have unlimited attempts to pass the quizes. Certificates will be sent to the attendees' email used at registration. Partial credit is not available for this course.

Versions of this training are held year-round from 7/1-6/30. Revisions/updates to the course offering are updated annually, typically on, or around, July 1st.
